Works on Paper Series, 2010–2014: My art practice includes a continuous stream of small gouache work done in a free-flowing style that taps straight into core being. The Works on Paper Series is a catch all for the pieces that don’t fit neatly into a focused series. It includes a wide variety of imagery ranging from realism and older symbols to savage markings (sparked lines applied with fervor). Some pieces are sketches or warm ups while others are fully resolved. The series is quite large, and includes work done while traveling.

This gallery focuses on paintings done in a style I call “isolating energy patterns.” They are strong examples of the raw energy that often start my painting process. These are interesting to me because they show the first movement of dynamic energy as it touches the paper… a burst of energy… in various linear forms… that isolate the movement. Spontaneous! Alive!
