Journey
I embarked on a voyage of self-discovery through my art, giving life to a series of ethereal beings. Each one embodies a different facet of my identity.
Movement
I seek to transcend the boundaries of the conscious mind, inviting viewers to immerse themselves into an unknown world. Explore the beauty of the unseen and experience the power of artistic expression. Let the work transport you to a another realm.
In this quiet, in a meditation of breath, in an opening up to that which arrives, a sign may appear. It may carry a shape, a form, a color, a movement lifting the gaze, carrying the heart. It is an interior space with fluid borders and when an image emerges it often evolves to reveal a natural impulse that seems just to have been waiting for discovery. When Joell Jones plumbs the ether of consciousness she culls forms of simplicity and dynamism. The reductive figure with outstretched wings both anchors an X in distribution across the picture plane and paradoxically expands with a swooshing propulsion of flight through space. Uplifted birds or leaves or angelic saviors, Jones’ light touch grants these spirits dominion over and through a watery matrix. – Jan Wurm
